Evauation Question 1
If we start by looking
at Andrew Goodwin’s Theory that is found in all music videos. This is looking
at the music video and taking into account the structure of the whole song,
chorus and verses.
Andrew Goodwin stated
that there was 5 key points, how the video is cut on the beat. It was found
people enjoy a music video more when this editing happens.
We found this happens
in the original White stripes video, hardest button to button. We then also
tried to use this in our music video and added some effects in that changed on
the best. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be done though the editing, it can be
done with the use of the performer in The black Keys video for Lonely Boy.
Throughout our music
video we used a verity of effects and a different software that gave the video
its style. For the transitions between the different shots, we used After
Effects, which allowed use to create a digital zoom rather then a camera zoom.
Using After Effects allowed use to zoom both in and out.
In order for use to
keep in time with the song when lip sinking, we played the music out loud
first, then resorted to using headphone in all the shots. This gave use the
idea to keep an occurring motif which might be found in future videos. This is
a similar style as the white stripes, using black, red or white in their
videos.
The mise en scene
played a large part in the making of the video, keeping casual clothing in a
indie style meant that it would style in a indie genre. For each of the different instruments
we had a different location. We did this, as it might be a way of creating a
different persona for each of the instruments. We found when editing that
having the different location helped editing and didn’t make the video look
dull.
We found that our
video doesn’t stick to typical indie conventions. We created the video and
tried to challenge the conventions of the indie genre. We did this by adding
the effects and the digital zooms. We used a very simple camera technique ,
placing the camera on a tripod and getting the right shot that we wanted.
The original we created
by a Man in America who created many different videos on YouTube. His video
contained him in many of these “musical picture frames” playing different
images to another song and placing them up and turning them on to play the
picture frame. We thought we would take the idea of the musical picture frames
and instead of having all the frames in one shot, changing in-between shots to
give it a different look to other music videos.

Evaluation Question 4
For all three products, Music video, Website and digipack, I used many types of technology. for the website I used the site Wix, allowing me to build my own site for the band. Using a Sony A100 DSLR camera for taking photos of the band, and using a mac to take print screens from the music video, to put onto the website. And the final form of technology being a Sony HD video camera to film the music video. When i was making the digipack and website i used a site call Dafont to get a font I liked to use in the digipack and website. To create the Digipack I used the Computer software Photoshop, alowing me to use a template to create the digipack.

I used Facebook and Twitter to get some background information in what type of people following the Indie genre and what style of clothing they wear, also how they act. Using Facebook also allowed me to keep in contact with the group i was in, seeing if they had found any more information needed, or to arrange to meet up for filming.

To Edit all of the footage together to create out music video we used two softwares, Final cut pro and After Effect. the final cut allowed us to cut the footage into the section that we wanted to use. After Effects made it possible to link all the sections together and create the transitions that are used within our music video.
After finishing the video we uploaded the Video to YouTube so we could embed it onto our blogs. It also made to possible to link it to social network website, allowing members of the public and friend/family, making it possible for people to leave feedback and and criticism they might have.

Evaluation Question 3
I also asked people how they feel about the whole indie/rock genre, and how often people listen to the white stripes, if they listen to them.
I Posted my Video on a social network site and asked friends who listen to the indie genre to watch the video and give feed back. I also posted it on a group page and got feed back off a graduate from Wolverhampton who has degree in Animation, who gave good quality feedback.
I have constantly got feed back of my media teachers and media technicians, saying how i could improve on my work.
We have put this video on youtube so that a wider audience can view and like/dislike, leave a comment on what thye think about it. I received verbal feeback from my peers in my class and from other friends and family who have seen our music video. All leaving a positive and a negative feeback, allowing us to make adjustments to the video if need be.
Having A media professional available at the college meant that if was possible to gain the comments on the video, seeing if there needed anything doing to the video. This lead to positives comments, about how the cuts and effects change on the beat.

Wesbite screen shots
These are screen shots of my website. I used the same color scheme that i used for my digipack to show that it is for the same band. This fits the purpose by being aimed at their target audience.
I added a home page, videos, photos, bio, tour dates, contact and store page.

Digipack
This is my DigiPack which I created in Photoshop using a digipack template. I used a color scheme which the band is know for (Red, White and Black).
For the front cover of the digipack, i created a guitar by using different sections of the guitar and copying them over and over again to form the guitar.
